This 2011 competition called for a striking contemporary architectural intervention into the historic urban fabric of Guadalajara, a Capital of Culture in Western Mexico.

The hotel design offers high class accommodation in a cutting-edge architectural sculpture celebrating the city’s tradition of Mariachi music by providing a first class performing arts facility and performance hub, with exhibition gallerias and conference facilities, attracting tourists, business guests and local residents. ESD initiatives included reclaim of public space and reduction of the physical building footprint by maximising space above the existing site.
